La Coruña is an important historic port. The city center stretches on a peninsula connected to the mainland by a narrow isthmus, so it has two different marine facades: one port (towards the mouth of the La Coruña River) and the other open sea towards the Orsan Bay.
Founded Coruña by Alfonso IX in 1208, although the title of the city was granted only in 1446 by King Juan II
